WHAT IS A BULB OF GARLIC
Garlic is a plant that is similar to onions and has a little white spherical bulb. Garlic has a strong odor and flavor and is commonly used in cooking.
Allium sativum is a flowering perennial plant that grows from a bulb. It has a long, erect blooming stem that can reach a height of one meter (3 ft). The leaf blade is flat, linear, and solid, with a sharp apex and a width of 1.25–2.5 cm (0.5–1.0 in).
In the Northern Hemisphere, the plant can produce pink to purple flowers from July through September.

The bulb has an odor and outer layers of thin wrapping leaves that encircle an inner sheath that encases the clove. Except for those closest to the center, the bulb usually contains 10 to 20 asymmetrically shaped cloves.
Garlic may be cultivated as far north as Alaska if planted at the right time and depth. Hermaphrodite blooms are produced by it. Bees, butterflies, moths, and other insects pollinate it.

Both softneck and hardneck garlic bulbs were planted. Softnecks are the ones you’ll find in the produce section of the supermarket. Because they aren’t extremely cold-hardy, they should be planted in milder climates.
The flavor of softneck garlic is hotter than that of hardneck garlic. If you braid your bulbs for storage, their leaves are extremely attractive.
In frigid areas, hardneck garlic cultivars thrive. This form of garlic has a solid, stiff central stem around which the garlic cloves grow in a single ring.
As hardnecks mature, their scapes expand and curl into a coil at the top of the stalk. The scenery is fantastic.
Elephant garlic is the final type of garlic and isn’t even a clove of true garlic. Its botanical name is Allium ampeloprasum, and it’s biologically closer to a leek than a garlic.
